No Baby Today
My fluid level has gone up so no need to be induced today :( I'm bummed because we were all prepared, but its actually better because Mike has an MBA class all weekend, which he would have had to skip if the baby came, and it's an important class towards graduation.
While I was leaving the hospital my doctor called and told me I am officially scheduled to be induced next Saturday, October 2nd - if the baby doesn't come beforehand. I hope it really works out b/c one of the nurses at the hospital told me they've been packed for about a month and they have been bumping some of the elective inductions when there are too many women 'in labor' coming in. My doctor seemed confident that Saturday will work though and I'm excited to be under her care for the entire l&d, which was not the case with Grace.
So...this week will be about tying up the remaining loose ends with the baby's room and having FUN with Grace. We're going to make cookies, go the park & gym, have a playdate or two and just enjoy our time together!

Baby Update
I am still 1-2 cm dilated (no change), however I mentioned the baby is not moving as much so my doctor sent me over to Hoag for fetal monitoring. Turns out my amneotic fluid is low - just like I experienced with Grace - and I need to go back on Friday for more monitoring. I had the sweetest nurse who told me it would be a good idea to bring my stuff :) So....Friday could be her birthday! If not, I'll probably be induced next week sometime. We're getting EXCITED!!

Shoes
I have a little obsession with Nordstrom's kids shoe department. It started when Grace turned about 1 and 1/2 with her first pair of Lelli Kelly's....they were soooo stinkin cute on her. Here's my latest purchase, little slip-on Sketchers, which I've been eyeing now for about a month. Next up I'm thinking little Uggs for winter. How cute will that be?!

The Baby's Room
We're still working on the baby's room but it's almost done! I still need to get window treatments for the three little windows above the baby's crib, attach the lamp shade, re-touch some painting, move in the chair & install new closet doors but all the "big stuff" is done. I"m not sure why these pictures are so blurry too but it gives you the idea :)
PS - I just noticed after I uploaded this post that the baby's room colors match my blog layout. Random!

Pregnancy Update
I'm 1-2 cm dilated as of this morning. Next Tuesday we may be able to set a date during the last week of September for induction depending on how busy the hospital is. Whoo hoo! Better put the car seat in, put the swing together, and set up the Pack n Play this weekend :)

First Day of Preschool
Today is the big day!! Grace started preschool two days a week from 9 am - 12 pm. She has been excited about starting school and we really tried to prep her over the last few weeks. A lot of her friends on our street started at the local elementary school yesterday so she feels like she's one of the "big kids" going to school herself. She was happy to have both Mike & I drop her off and did really well playing for a few minutes outside until we said goodbye by her classrooom door. She took her teacher's hand and had a little hesitation but she DID NOT CRY so I was very happy and we left pretty quickly which I understand is best to do. I can't wait to find out what she did and if she liked it. There are 10 little kids in her class and they were all so cute this morning :) Good luck Gracie, we love you!!

San Diego Zoo
On Friday, Grace and Nana & I headed south to the San Diego Zoo! It was Gracie's first trip and we rode the Skyfari, took a bus tour and walked about half of the zoo. Grace's favorite animal was the "dancing bear". There was a bear shaking and bobbing his head back and forth, which apparently was the type of bear breed that the Russians use in the circus. We saw tons of animals and the weather was just perfect! My feet were soooo sore by the early afternoon, but it was worth it because we all had so much fun :)

Preschool Meet & Greet and Baby Shower
This morning we went to Grace's preschool "meet & greet" where we met Grace's teacher, Ms. Freeman, checked out her classroom, and met some of her classmates. There will be 10 kids in her class and I think she's going to really like it as long as she's okay with us leaving her there next Tuesday. Our fingers are crossed so we will see!
Checking out some of the toys in her classroom
After that we went to my neighbor Keri's house because she and some of the other stay-at-home moms on my street threw me a baby shower brunch. The kids played in her backyard while us moms talked and had a good time. I feel so lucky to have these nice moms on my street because I often think about the fact that neighbors are like family - you can't pick them like friends. We just all happened to luck-out and definitely keep eachother sane when we meet outside 'to play' in the late afternoons most days. Grace is forever asking me if she can go outside to play with her friends....sometimes as early as 8 am!!!

Baby Shower Brunch
My best friends threw me a baby shower brunch at the Hilton Huntington Beach yesterday. It was so fun getting together and catching up. We all have little girls (and a boy) and really enjoyed a break from the 'mommy madness'. I am so lucky to have these girls in my life. They are truly wonderful friends :) Thanks girls for a great afternoon and for all the sweet gifts. Oh, and ironically, my friend Megan couldn't make it because she is now having her 3rd baby...who will probably be born today...on Labor Day. We're anxiously awaiting the announcement!
Meanwhile, in Foothill Ranch, Daddy and Grace had a little adventure to lunch and the pet store, and indulged in one of Grace's favorite desserts - pink ice cream with gummi bears!
